Talk:Russian Super League

[edit] More info on the schedule and rules
I'd like to know how many games they play a year, when the season starts and begins, and the playoff format, and what the rules are. I assume they play on international ice?. MantleX 20:07, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Change Article Title!!!
I'd like to change the title of the article to Russian Super League (take out the hockey). This is the actual name of the league (which is RSL, and not RHSL), and it is the name fot he article to which other russian hockey articles link. I just came back from editing the RSL disambiguation page, but it'd be easier to just change the name of this article.
[edit] Team list
Here's the team list for 2006/07: [1]. Conscious 20:53, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Teams for 2006-07
The current list of teams for the top-level Russian Hockey Super League is as follows: Ak Bars Kazan, Avangard Omsk, CSKA Moscow, Dynamo Moscow, Khimik Mytischi, Lada Togliatti, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, Metallurg Magnitogorsk, Metallurg Novokuznetsk, Molot-Prikamye Perm, MVD Tver, Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, Salavat Yulaev Ufa, Severstal Cherepovets, Sibir Novosibirsk, SKA St. Petersburg, Spartak Moscow, Vityaz Chekhov [2]
Amur Khabarovsk, Krylya Sovetov Moscow, and Traktor Chelyabinsk have all been relegated to the Vysshaya Liga. [3] --AdMajorem 20:58, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- I believe your source is out of date. Indeed the list could have looked like this several months ago, but several teams faced financial difficulties and were moved out of Super League. Take a look at the clubs' websites, apparently they're all preparing for a 20-team league: Krylya SKA Dynamo. Conscious 05:52, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm, I guess even Eurohockey and russian-hockey.ru currently have it wrong. [4] [5] The RSL hasn't seen a 20-team league since 1999-00. I do know Spartak at least had financial problems, but found aid before their GM tragically passed away in an airplane crash. I haven't seen a date of the start of the 06-07 RSL season, but I would assume the official teams would be known by then. :p --AdMajorem 03:37, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- It's starting on September 7 (see link to Sport-Express above). Conscious 06:53, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Page move
I don't really agree with the page move, because there are several other leagues in Russia called Super League (see Russian Super League (disambiguation)). At least the basketball league is popular enough to reach the Google top ten links: [6]. Conscious 07:19, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- I didn't see any other leagues in the first few pages of results when I did the search the other day, but it does look like there are a couple. If the hockey league and the basketball league are both named the exact same thing then they should be at Russian Super League (hockey) and Russian Super League (basketball), but "Russian Superleague" seems to refer to the basketball league more often than the hockey league so maybe we could use that for its name. [edit] Map
This article could use a map to show where the clubs are located within Russia. For an example, see the Canadian Football League. Another helpful item might be to mention if the league uses relegation and promotion, and if so, how it works. Maybe a list of clubs by number of titles would be better than the huge list there now with every year listed seperately. Just my opinion. Kevlar67 22:29, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Logo?
Just wondering, I've been seeing this logo: http://www.fhr.ru/images/new_news/img_3332 on a lot of the teams websites. Can someone verify that the logo on the page is the actual RSL logo? - FireForEffect - 23:31, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- It reads: "Hockey Federation of Russia", this is the federation's logo (see http://www.fhr.ru/ , for example). The league doesn't seem to have the logo of its own. Conscious 13:58, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Soviet Championship vs. Soviet Cup
Aren't these two different titles? Sort of like Presidet's Trophy and Stanley Cup for NHL or like FA Cup and League Cup in English football? Why can't I find out any explaination of them? Kevlar67 (talk) 09:23, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
