[edit] Help expand

please help expand this article. I have done a lot to this article. Please help me expand this article. Duckwariorrandom (talk) 00:13, 4 January 2008 (UTC) Duckwariorrandom (talk) 19:39, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Removed some text

I cut the following passages as too trivial and too insiderish in tone. No doubt there's some good info somewhere, and perhaps some of this can be worked back in at some point, but it's beyond me.

== Island Lore == Prior to building the first homes on the Island around 1910, the original purchasers intended to make Russell Island into an amusement attraction. The Russell Island Yacht Club was home to several slot machines which provided entertainment to island goers. Sometime around the prohibition era the slot machines were dumped in the St. Clair River.

[edit] Old Ferry Dock

Actually, there used to be a dock on the East side of the island where a ferry would drop people off to stay the day on this island. When the cottages were built, the ferry continued to go there, until the late 1960's when the ferry dock was moved to the West side of the island.

[edit] Russell Island Yacht Club

Also, the Russell Island Yacht Club is almost a social center of Russel Island, where after 9 PM adults will go to the only store on the Island to get a beer or watch TV with friends. Kids will go there all the time during the day to buy candy, ice cream, pop, or pizza. Many events are hosted at the Yacht Club, like the Old Timers party or Bingo.

[edit] The Beach/Park

Russell Island has a park with swings, a few slides, teeter-totters, and a few other things. There is also a sand volleyball court. There is a small beach with break wall on one side to stop the waves, but there is an opening to swim out. There is a dock that goes out with the high-dive, diving board, and water slide.

[edit] Um...?

Ok. I will get back working on this article to make it perfect tomorrow. With proof. Duckwariorrandom (talk) 02:58, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

It's not the proof that's the issue (though that would be welcome). It's that the facts above are trivial. I appreciate that you want to improve this article, but it has to be information that's worth having here. No disrespect to you is intended. · rodii · 01:47, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
