Rustam Minnikhanov

Rustam Nurgaliyevich Minnikhanov (Tatar: Miñnexanov Röstäm Nurğäli ulı; Russian: Руста́м Нургали́евич Минниха́нов; b. 1957) is a Tatarstan politician and the current Prime Minister of Tatarstan, which is a federal subject of Russia.

Rustam Minnikhanov was born on March 1, 1957 in the Yaña Arış village of Rybno-Slobodsky District in the Tatar ASSR.
Graduated from Kazan Agricultural Institute as mechanical engineer and also from Correspondence Institute of Soviet Trade as commodity expert.
Doctor of economic sciences.
After graduating from the institute in 1978, he started his labor career as engineer in Sabinsky District Association of Selkhoztekhnika. Then he worked in this district as a Senior Engineer and Chief Power Engineer in a state timber industry enterprise, Deputy Chairman of District Consumer Society Board.
In 1985–1993 he worked in Arsky District as Chairman of the District Consumer Society Board, Chairman of the Executive Committee of People's Deputies District Council, First Deputy Head of District Administration.
In 1993, he was appointed Head of Vysokogorsky District Administration.
Since November 1996 he worked as Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Since July 10, 1998 until the present time: Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Rustam Minnikhanov is a keen motor sports enthusiast and a regular competitor in the FIA European Championship for Rallycross Drivers, currently driving a Citroën C4 T16 4x4 with 550+bhp that was build and raced in 2006 by 13 times European Rallycross champion Kenneth Hansen (Sweden). In 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006 Minnikhanov won the truck category of the UAE Desert Challenge (a Rally Raid competition) in the United Arab Emirates with his Kamaz 4911 and in 2004 as well as 2005 he finished 3rd overall in the FIA European Championship for Autocross Drivers with a four-wheel driven Ford Puma.
