Spartak and Lokomotiv qualified for the UEFA Champions League 2001-02. Torpedo, Anzhi, and Dynamo qualified for the UEFA Cup 2001-02. Chernomorets qualified for the UEFA Cup thanks to Lokomotiv winning the Russian Cup in 2001.
