Russell family (Passions)

The Russell family is a middle class African American family living in the fictional town of Harmony on the NBC/DirecTV daytime drama Passions. The Crane family and the Russell family had a feud for a number of years. T.C. hated the Cranes because he blamed Julian for his injuries in a hit and run accident in his youth that destroyed his chances of being a professional tennis star (in reality T.C.'s future wife Eve was driving while intoxicated). Julian's father Alistair Crane was deeply racist and hated that his son had fathered a child with a black woman (later made ironic by Alistair's rape and impregnation of Eve's adopted half-sister).

Eve Johnson was the mother of Irma and Warren Johnson and the paternal grandmother of Eve Russell, her namesake.

Irma Johnson is the sister of the late Warren Johnson, thus making her the aunt of Eve Russell. Irma and Eve were close when Eve was young; Irma was very proud of her niece's singing ability and loved to brag about her. Their relationship became strained when Irma went to visit her then-young adult niece in Boston and saw her wasting her voice singing in a seedy jazz club, drugged out of her mind and cavorting with several men. The last straw, however, was when Irma discovered that Eve was carrying a white man's child. Eve and Irma didn't speak for nearly twenty years as a result. Later, when Irma was unable to live on her own any longer, Eve paid for her aunt to live in a retirement home; however, she told her husband and daughters that she had no living relatives in an attempt to keep her past a secret.

In 2004, Eve's vengeful half-sister, Liz, discovered Irma's existence and brought her to Harmony to destroy Eve's life. Irma not only told Eve's family that Eve had been a prostitute and drug addict while living in Boston, but also revealed that Eve had become pregnant with and given birth to the son of Julian Crane, TC's bitter enemy. These revelations destroyed Eve and TC's marriage.

Despite her Christian upbringing was often foul-mouthed; she would often call Eve a whore or slut. When Eve's daughter Simone told Irma that she was a lesbian, Irma, who had previously been very kind to her great-niece, told Simone that homosexuality was vile and disgusting, and ordered Simone to leave.

Irma was portrayed by Marla Gibbs on a recurring basis in 2004 and again in 2005.

Warren Johnson is the late father of Eve Russell, whom he named after his mother. He divorced Eve's mother, Ruby, when Eve was a young girl, and it is unknown if he ever remarried.

Ruby Lincoln is the late mother of Eve Johnson. She divorced Eve's father when Eve was a young girl and remarried another man, whose surname was Sanbourne, and they adopted a daughter, Liz.

Ruby was played by Inger Tudor for two appearances in 2003.

Reggie Russell is the late father of TC Russell. Reggie had high hopes for his son's promising tennis career and was crushed when TC was in a car accident that ended those dreams. Reggie was said to have died of a broken heart as a result.

Reggie was played by Dwight Hicks in flashbacks for four episodes during 2001- 2002.

unnamed Sanbourne was the second husband of Ruby Lincoln and the adoptive father of Liz Sanbourne. After his stepdaughter, Eve, moved to Boston, he began sexually abusing his young daughter, traumatizing her.
