Russell Shepard is an American football dual-threat quarterback. He attends Cypress Ridge High School in Harris County, Texas near Houston. Shepard is the most celebrated high school football player in the Houston area since Vince Young. He draws comparisons to current West Virginia University quarterback Pat White. As a sophomore, the 6-2, 185-pound Shepard rushed for 1,459 yards and 22 touchdowns and threw for 789 yards. Shepard also led Cy-Ridge to a 17-5A district championship in 2007. Alongside Matt Barkley, Shepard is considered the top quarterback of the high school class of 2009 by both Rivals.com and Scout.com.

On March 3, 2008, announced his decision to accept a scholarship from the Louisiana State University.[1]
