Russell Gillies, born July 8th 1979 in Irvine, is a Scottish satirist.

Russell Gillies first shot to stardom with a series of witty and quirky shows at the Edinburgh Fringe in the early nineties, focussing loosely on slapstick political satire. His Perrier award winning performance was based largely on his successful and popular 1993 radio East Anglia show, "Politics and Power", which enabled him to hone his satirical and comedic talents in front of a live audience. At the time newspapers described Mr Gillies as, "Ayrshire's hottest ticket"[cite this quote] and was likened in a slightly unlikely mannner to Billy Connolly.

Russell currently works as a comedic executive to the BBC Scotland comedy unit and is keepie up world champ - at least in Stewarton terms.
