Russ Wilcox was an English professional footballer, playing for Northampton Town, Hull City, Doncaster Rovers, Preston North End and Scunthorpe United. He scored 27 goals in 481 league appearances. At Scunthorpe, he was player-assistant manager to Brian Laws. When Laws was sacked in 2004 Wilcox took temporary control for the four games until Laws was reinstated, drawing 2 and losing 2. When Laws returned he reverted to his original role of assistant manager. In 2006, when Laws left Scunthorpe for Sheffield Wednesday, Wilcox followed him to take up the assistant manager's role at Wednesday.
