Talk:Rupiah Banda
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I initially had the article say he was Foreign Minister from 1975 to 1976, but 1976 was recently changed to 1978. No really good source seems to exist on the Internet about this, but in this interview he seems to refer to it as lasting only one year: "All that year, I was travelling constantly to all parts trying to broker a ceasefire for peace in Angola." What source does User:Perspicacite base the 1978 date on? Everyking 08:38, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- I am now almost certain that 1976 is the correct date, based on several sources I've found mentioning Siteke Mwale as Foreign Minister in 1976, so I am going to change the date. None of the sources are really any good for this article, since they don't mention Banda himself, but they certainly confirm that Banda could not have remained FM until 1978. The sources include such things as a visit by Mwale as FM to Romania in Nov. 1976, and a quote from Mwale on Google Books in which he expresses condolences on the death of Mao (Sept. 1976). I have excluded sources such as Geocities websites and Rulers.org (which also give 1976). Everyking 07:06, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
