Texas history
The Texas Revolution page has to be one of the worst pages I've read. It goes everywhere, but nowhere. There is no structure, and only confuses more than it teaches. My changes kept the facts of the previous article, but deleted the useless information. I edited the content, so its easier to read, yet, helped expand the link, by moving the information from the main page, to a link.
The changes I made were careful and based on good references. Have you even read the article I wrote, and compared it to that horror you keep re-posting? Skibofilms
p.s. I am also preparing to edit the Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna article. The article states that Santa Anna's mother was French and that Santa anna was hydrophobic, in the "early childhood" section of the article. Reading that alone is enough for me to know the entire information on him is not to be trusted.
I moved the information of the Battle of concepcion to the link of the same name. That article was expanded. The Goliad section had no real good information and I thought it more useful to use the Goliad campaign link, which is well structured, instead. I expanded on "Santa Anna arrives" by calling it "The santa Anna offensive," and concentrating a bit more on the actions of the Army of Operations. As to the "external links" I don't know how I erased them and it was never my intention to so. I apologies for that mistake. Skibofilms 17:48, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

I am planning to do an article on mexican football (or soccer). is football big in mexico? what team is the biggest? is there a problem with hooligans?

also, how much do tickets normally cost?
Themoomin 21:11, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
In britain tickets go from £3 for a conference side to £50 for a team like arsenal, chelsea, liverpool or manchester united. my favorite team everton charges £17.50 for a ticket.

Raney nickel references
I saw how you reorganized the references on the Raney nickel article. The <reference /> tag looks to me to be new syntax. I really like this new method of referencing. It looks much easier than Wikipedia:Footnote. I've been unable to find info/instructions on this new referencing technique. Could you point me in the right direction? Thanks, ~K 05:14, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Refs/notes are much better now. You should write an article for "skeletal catalyst" or take the ... off so it won't be in red. I've changed my vote. Rlevse 11:28, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude earlier when I put that in use template up. It's just that another editor had asked me to see what I could do to help get the article to FA status, and you know how messy it can be when two people try to edit at once. Lead the charge?
Hey Rune.welsh, regarding the User Page Award program for Esperanza, you have volunteered to be one of the user's to help guide this program to success! If your offer still stands please let me know, as I am working on drawing up the proposal further. Thanks! KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 14:26, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- Right now I'm working on a sub page, signups for judges and request for nominations and the like! I've started creating a rough draft of the actual program, consisting of the general criteria for involvement in the project. And a statement on why it's being created etc. Once I have completed it I will let you know A.S.A.P. So that you may contribute your ideas and suggestions! I'll be most appreciative for your help and involvement! KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 15:21, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- Do you think there should be a number limit on the amount on noms for the user pages? 4-5 Judges should be able to handle 10-15 pages. More or less do you think? KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 15:25, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- That sounds good. I'm thinking two weeks myself. I'm awaiting Banes confirmation that he wants to help lead this project. So we'll have to wait for is input as well. I think I have the preliminary ideas down. Here are the links: one is the sub page for the programs sign up for judges and nominations. The other is the programs criteria page which is currently on my user sub page please check them out.
On one of the sub pages I mention Essjay as the creator of the award. That is not confirmed yet, but I'm sure he'll do it. If not I'm sure the 3 of us can come up with something. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 15:38, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- Thats a great idea I was just thinking of the "spam" part of the job myself :-D. Maybe after we get Banes confirmation we should set up a IRC meeting to make it easier to discuss and plan this out. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 15:58, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

- If you have not started the spamming yet, maybe we should hold off spamming this program as of now. We still are in the preliminary stages. If you already have started it's not a problem. Just a thought! But by all means send Celestians out though lol.

Hi! Before you spam Esperanza, can I compile a message and you can spam that too. We're in need of an update ;). --Celestianpower háblame 16:25, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Slight update
If you could refer to this diff I've added a note. Also do you think Me you and Banes should be allowed to be judges? :-D KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 17:13, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

An Esperanzial note
As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.
In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)
Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Templates are done :-D
Hey Rune.welsh, I've been adding additional information and idea's to the Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award. Make sure you check them out! I've also created the judges and nomination templates. They can be renamed to a more sensible name when we are ready to use them. Until then check em out :-D {{userpageaward}} (for nominations) and {{upajudge}} (for judges of course). KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 23:03, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- They Look Great! I've changed the links to direct users to the Esperanza/programs page in place of my user sub page. They really do look great. I'm going to implement the issues we discussed on IRC, into the UPA pages later today. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 23:18, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
User Page Award
Hey Rune.welsh, Banes and myself met with Essjay this morning/afternoon/evening despending on where you are in the world :-D. We were discussing the award, Essjay has agreed to make it. Here is the latest draft Image:ESP-star-1.PNG. Essjay has indicated that if we want changes to ensue we should all meet in the Esperanza IRC channel to discuss it. Banes and I also talked about the "heads" not nominating user pages. The two of us think we should be allowed to when we are not judges. We'd like your thoughts on that matter as well. That should cover everything that we discussed thus far. Also in case you have not seen the templates messages they are here. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 12:25, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
- By all means feel free to improve the templates! My template creating skills are sub-par at best. I'll try and be in the IRC channel too. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 17:57, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Site promoting downloading of copyrighted material
Hello Rune.welsh! I hope you can help me with this one. There is this site that promotes the download of a bunch of copyrighted material (MP3, videos, pictures) of the italian singer Laura Pausini . The webmaster is even offering for download her most recently released DVD. This is clearly a copyright violation.
Since I noticed this I erased the link from the article Laura Pausini because of the sentence that appears below the textbox every time you edit something: Content must not violate any copyright and must be verifiable. You agree to license your contributions under the GFDL.
I want to know if there is another rule or something that I can apply to this kind of site. The other guy says that Wikipedia is "Ok with this" so I really wanna know if he's right, because I think he is not. You should take a look at the discussion page of the article. I have a website dedicated to this italian singer (see site) and I'm in contact with the official fanclub manager once in a while. I have reported cases like this in the past and they have managed the situation. That's why I'm pretty sure what that guys is doing is illegal. I have reported this site to them yesterday.
But I guess my main question is, Is it Ok to have links to websites that violates copyright laws so clearly? Thanks for your response in advance. Gracias.

UPA
Hey Rune, I'm wondering if your around, I had a few things I wanted to discuss about the UPA. Let me know and if you can, could you come to the Esperanza IRC channel? Thanks KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 15:09, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
- Hey no problem, just wanted to discuss a few things, Banes and I talk earlier, I volunteered to be the next "Overseer" unless you want to be. I've noticed a few people adding 16th nominations, or 6th judge, so we discussed ways to deter that from occurring again. We decided on a nice note at the top of the page, asking not to add any more nominations or judges. I'm thinking of only adding it after the 15 and 5 are filled for the week. I've also been asking users who I spammed, if they thought they were easy to understand and if the scores section was comprehensible so far most users like them and understand them pretty well. Although FireFox, would like some sections clarified a little more to help users who wouldn't read the page word for word. We also discussed the "once a month contest" I've been thinking about it, Banes seemed to see my point but did not make any remarks on it that settled anything. I'm thinking it might appear too cabalish and arrogant if we make a contest were we are the only judges and only the winning user pages can participate. I wouldn't want it to turn into a contest, where feelings could be hurt, or people could get upset over us being the only judges. So I wanted to discuss that aspect between the three of us in more depth. That should cover what we talked about. BTW have you seen the new awards on the talk page? KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 21:29, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Languages of Mexico
Hey, Rune.welsh. I translated the article Languages of Mexico, from the Catalan wikipedia article (that I had done myself about a week ago). I didn't include the fact that no article in the constitution speaks of Spanish as the official language, as we await for a response from the IFAI of from any other user that knows something about Mexican legislation. Check it out and tell me what you think. --J.Alonso 18:47, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

I love the map, I really do; I love when we make our own maps for major stories. It does, however, indicate that the West Bank is part of Jordan. Admin Coaching
So, when do you want to resume Admin coaching? I don't really remember where I left off, so I need you to remind me... Titoxd(?!? - help us) 22:59, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
The happy world of Speedy Deletion
Ok, resuming the lessons. Speedy deletion is used only in clear-cut cases where the page that needs to be deleted is crap. As no one likes their work deleted, this is one of the most disputed areas of Wikipedia policy, so you need to thread carefully. Before speedy deleting anything, you must be familiar with the Criteria for speedy deletion and remembering: When in doubt, don't delete, AFD.
Each speedy criterion has its pecularities. For example, CSD G1 is used for articles that are patent nonsense, but not nonsense in general. CSD A7, which deals with articles of dubious notability, can only be used if notability is not asserted in the article, or if it is asserted but clearly not notable anyways. But what makes something not notable? No one really knows, and that's the point of most of the bickering at AFD and Deletion review. However, there are a few inclusion guidelines that are useful: WP:MUSIC, WP:WEB and WP:BIO are the most notable examples. The rest of them are clear-cut (except the new userbox speedy criterion, which no one knows how to use yet), but if you feel a bit of doubts (which you will feel your first few days as an admin), use the "tag and bag method", by tagging yourself the article with {{db}} and then waiting for someone else to delete it.
Again, remember, use your judgment and common sense, but be cautious. Feel free to ask me back anything, and don't get yourself in the middle of a huge Wikipolitical fight, all right? ;)Titoxd(?!? - help us) 05:16, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

User page nomination
Hi Rune.welsh. I was wondering for my user page nomination on Esperanza, could I change the link going to my user page? I know it goes against the rules, but it was nominated on a mess-up copy of my user page (See: User talk:Smurrayinchester for the full details). SWD316 talk to me 22:06, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- Hey Rune, we've had a lot of users take the intuitive with this project, People spamming the noms, which when I think back wasn't that big a deal, and even archiving the results from the first contest. (I removed the archive for now, so that we can keep the winner on the page until the next contest is ready.) I've recieved a few messages on my talk page and on IRC, asking when the judges are going to be spammed, etc, we have a home run with this project. Due to the community intrest being extremly high, do you think that we should speed up the process? Incase you've forgot the judges template is {{upajudge}}, and the way I picked the user pages for the judges was: I made two columns one to 5 and one of 15, I turned off my monitor so I wouldn't look :-P, and I just randomly put 3 numbers from the "15" column into the one with 5 crossing off the 3 I chose. Feel free to choose your own way to select the judges user pages, because the way I just explained mine seems confusing lol. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 00:28, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
- Ah yes the beauty of the "my watchlist" link...I think the message you left was very appropiate :-D. I'm working on rotating Banes's name out and my name in on the judges template... Could you elaborate on the Mon-Tues idea? KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 00:43, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

VSEPR theory
I am not sure your revert on this page was correct. The theory does not state any number for the angle. It is just about getting minimum repulsion. The whole page actually needs attention. The theory is too often described in a simplified wrong way. Maybe sometime I'll get round to looking it at but I do not have the time now. --Bduke 21:50, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
- One good reference is by Gillespie (the originator of VSEPR) in Chemical Society Reviews. I can not lay my hands on my copy of it, but it might be No 2 in the 2004 volume (I have a gap on my shelf for that one and the article is not in the others). I'll let you know if I find it. --Bduke 21:09, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- Found it. It was not the one above but "Chemical Society Reviews", Vol 34, No 5, May 2005, Pg 396, Ronald J. Gillespie and Edward A. Robinson, Models of molecular geometry. It covers some more recent ideas than VSEPR, but is the most recent I know about on VSEPR. --Bduke 01:29, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Another Esperanzial note...
Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".
The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

Re: Bagratids
Hello, Bagratids is the general name applied to both Bagratunis and Bagrationis and is used by pretty muvh most Western scholars. Bagratunis are the original Bagratids, so Bagratuni refers exclusively to Armenians. Bagrationi is a Georgian form of Bagratuni and is exclusively applied to Georgian Bagratids.
Ideally, the page in question will be Bagratid/Bagratids with a short introduction (origin, how they became powerful, how Georgian branch was formed etc.) and links to Bagratunis and Bagrations in their separate pages. Note, Kober as well as Isomorphic agreed to this earlier in the discussion of the page. --Eupator 23:21, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
