Runyon Avenue
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Runyon Avenue is a street in Detroit, Michigan off of 8 Mile Road and 7 Mile Road that is home to the Runyon Avenue Soldiers, including Kuniva, Kon Artis and the late Bugz from the band D12. They are allies of rap artist Eminem, who has made reference to them in songs such as "Like Toy Soldiers",
"Let 'em know how important it is to have Runyon Avenue Soldiers up in our corners,"
"Welcome to Detroit City" (Trick Trick ft. Eminem),
"Let me hear you holla' goon squad in this bitch! Let me hear you holla' goon squad in this bitch! Let me hear you holla' Runyon ave in this bitch!"
"Managers, bouncers, and the club owners, the motherfuckers don't want us to come up and rush in the club and run up in it with a bunch of motherfuckers from Runyon"
and in the D12 track "40 Oz.",
"Security that can't even stop us because they know, Runyon Avenue soldiers hold it down wherever we go".
The street is frequently name-checked in the works of D12, and in the rap label set up by Kuniva and Kon Artis, Runyon Ave. Records.
