Rune Almenning Jarstein (born September 29, 1984) is a Norwegian football player. His position is goalkeeper.

His current club is Rosenborg BK. He used to play for local team Herkules IF in Skien.

Jarstein has been capped 30 times at youth level for Norway. He made his Tippeligaen debut in 2002 aged 18. During his teens, he had trials at several European top clubs, including Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

He made his debut for the Norwegian senior side on August 23, 2007, playing 45 minutes in a 2–1 win over Argentina.
