[edit] Music video
The music video portrays a school dance inside a gym, where Brown meets a girl that he suddenly is attracted to and wants to dance with. The video gives long and interesting dance sequences throughout. At the end, the security guards arrive, and the whole gym is evacuated. However, as soon as the guards find nobody there, they start dancing. The video starts the running gag that Brown gets close to but never actually kisses a girl in any of his videos. The video received nominations for Best New Artist and Viewer's Choice at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, but did not win either of these.

[edit] Chart performance
In the UK, "Run It" sold more physical singles than the number 1 single, "Nasty Girl" by The Notorious B.I.G..[citation needed] However, "Nasty Girl" beat "Run It" due to download sales,[citation needed] a rule introduced by The Official UK Charts Company in 2005.
