User talk:Ruminations of a Racial Realist
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi
Could someone explain why I was blocked. I simply added links to a few multiracial entries as follows:
My user name "Ruminations of a Racial Realist" corresponds to the name of my blog on race, racism and racial identity... I would be happy to change my user name if this is considered inappropriate.
- I don't know how many people you e-mailed, but both Katefan0 and I have left similar messages for User:Kungfuadam. Please sit tight for a bit. If Kungfuadam does not justify the block within 24 hours, I will remove it. Thanks, Johntex\talk 01:44, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- The stated reason on the block log was "vandalism only account, and I wonder about the username". I don't see any evidence of vandalism or intent to vandalize, so I removed the block. The confusion probably came from the user name, which could be interpretted a number of ways (we are usually pretty suspicious of people who use anything having to do with race in user names, if only because 90% of the people who do such things are doing it for the most negative of purposes). I'm going to assume it was just a mistake on Kungfuadam's part, because after checking out the user contributions and the user's blog (the source of the name) I'm thoroughly convinced of her good intentions. My recommendation is to create a user page, because with a username like that you're going to raise a few eyebrows! (Nothing wrong with raising eyebrows of course, but you want to give them a sense of what you mean by it.) Because of the high amount of vandalism we get on Wikipedia, sometimes mistakes are made. Hopefully this won't negatively affect your future editing experience! --Fastfission 02:52, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hello, I am sorry that I assumed bad faith. That is a wiki no-no. (bad Adam, no cookie) Anyhow, I assumed that this account was created for spam. I should have warned you instead of blocking you. The block has been lifted. Just remember not to post blog links because they probably aren't significant enough to add to Wikipedia. Happy editing!--Adam (talk) 03:25, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
