Rumphi
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rumphi, population 14,069 (1998), is a town in the Northern Region of Malawi. It is a lively town with a market which serves the widespread tobacco farming community.
Rumphi is the main town of Rumphi District in Northern Malawi.
Rumphi is noted for the kindness of the people (it's even rude to pass by someone without greeting them). It is also known for nearby Nyika National Park, Nyika Plateau, and the summer heat. Unlike its larger neighbour, Mzuzu, which has mild sunny weather almost all year, Rumphi has very hot summers. This is largely due to the town being surrounded by hills.
