Rumaila field
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Rumaila Field is an oil field located in Kuwait and southern Iraq. The dispute between Iraq and Kuwait over slant-drilling in the field was one of reasons for Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990.[1] This giant oil field was discovered by Braspetro, a Brazilian company in the 1970s.[citation needed] Under Saddam Hussein, it was nationalized by Iraq. Since then, this massive oil field remains under Iraqi and Kuwaiti control.
