Rum has been a market town since 1987 in the district of Innsbruck-Land and is located at the western border of Innsbruck. As a matter of fact by the proximity the number of inhabitants has been increasing ever since and it is one of the richest municipalities of Tyrol. Above the old village core a private hospital was built in 1955. Rum looks like a part of Innsbruck nowadays but efforts for the incorporation have been without success until now.
