Rui Vaz is a village situated at the center of Santiago Island in Cape Verde. Due to its altitude (1km) its climate is pleasant compared to the rest of the country. Like many other villages in Cape Verde, the decentralisation of the government has made possible the appearance of many infrastructures, including the motel "Quinta da Montanha", where one can enjoy a traditional meal and peaceful rest. The Capeverdean musician Silva Rosa is from Rui Vaz.
