Rui Miguel Nereu de Branco Batista (b. 4 February 1986) is a Portuguese football (soccer) goalkeeper. He currently plays for Académica de Coimbra. He made is senior debut at Benfica in 2005/2006, where he had to step in due to the injuries of both the team's goalies Moreira and Quim. The young Nereu even had the chance to play a Champions League match against the Spanish side Villarreal at El Madrigal.

Nereu, who used to be the number of Benfica B before its extinction, has the club's former goalkeeper Michel Preud'Homme as an idol and is also a surfer and a male model[1]. The youngster played for all of Benfica's youth squads before reaching the seniors, with whom he performed the pre-season in 2004/2005, supervised by Giovanni Trapattoni (the team's manager at the time).
