[edit] Recrimination
Reformers of the Islamic Republic have asserted Hosseinian inspired the murder of secular intellectuals[4]. In turn, he has accused the supporters of Mohammad Khatami of the Chain Murders of Iran[5][6]. Ali Larijani who had allowed this accusation to be broadcast on Iranian television was banned from attending Cabinet sessions.
According to one report, Hojatoleslam Ruhollah Hosseinian has stated that Saeed Emami was killed in order to "prevent identification of higher clerical authorities that ordered the killings"[7].
