Rugby union in the Arabian Gulf is a minor, but growing sport. They are currently unranked in the International Rugby Board's world rankings[1], which ranks only the top ninety-five countries. Out of 3210 registered rugby union players in the Arabian Gulf, over 2000 are pre-teens or teenagers.[2]. The governing body for the Arabian Gulf is is Arabian Gulf RFU. The headquarters is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The Arabian Gulf had mixed results at the 2007 Asian Nations Series. The squad was involved in two one-sided matches, losing to Kazakhstan by a score of 49-9, and defeating Sri Lanka by a score of 52-11[3]
