Rugby union in Iran is a growing sport.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Rugby Union was formed in 2002 through university contacts and has now grown to over 1,000 players, both men and women. The national team took part in the Dubai Sevens veteran tournament but that has been the extent of international exposure.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Rugby Union was officially formed in 2002 by Alireza Fazlollah A’rabi although it is isn't a full member of the International Rugby Board.

Alireza Fazlollah A’rabi is head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Rugby Union.

The Iranian League is an amateur league which was established in 2002 by Alireza Fazlollah A’rabi .
Tehran Rugby RUFC have won the competition four times, every year since it's establishment.
