Rugby union at the Pan American Games

On July 11, 2007, Mario Vazquez Rana, president of the Pan American Sports Organization, (PASO), announced that rugby union would be added to the list of sports that will be played in the 2011 Pan American Games scheduled to be played in Guadalajara, Mexico.^{[citation needed]}

Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said the addition of rugby union to the Pan-American Games could open the door for future consideration of the sport for future Olympic Games.^{[citation needed]}
