Talk:Ruffian (horse)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ruffian was one of the great ones, a spectacular filly and a tragic story.
It's kind of surprising that she didn't have an entry here until I made it just now. Hopefully this article will grow. --Bryan

[edit] Ruffian
I remember the race. It broke my heart. Clayton Quirk
I saw the movie last night and was appalled at the tragedy. I hope trainers, breeders and the public learned a lesson from that poignant movie depicting the life of a great horse. B. Anderson
I watched the movie tonight. It is 11:08 and I am just so sad. I am only 11 so I didn't get to watch it live but it must have been devistating for her trainer , breeders , owner and fans. May she rest in peace at Belmont Park. ~Amy♥
There's a sentence in here... "Vasquez tried to pull her up, but the filly wouldn't stop. She kept on running, pulverizing her sesamoids, ripping the skin of her fetlock as the bones burst through, driving the open wound into the sting sand of the Belmont track, tearing her ligaments, until her hoof was flopping uselessly, bent up like the tip of a ski." ... that's plagarized from the book, Ruffian, Burning from the Start. We might want to quote or re-write it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.79.89.211 (talk) 21:39, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Extraordinary Horse
I was 13 years old when I watched Ruffian break down during this race. I've grown up with horses and loved them all my life. I just watched the movie of 'Ruffian' and just bawled when her leg broke. The spirit she had through her whole life lives on, and I can't help but think she would have won that race and that same spirit took her on to the 'glory fields' where she is today. Julie
