Ruffneck (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ruffneck is a house music group from New Jersey consisting of record producers Dwayne Richardson, Derek Jenkins and Stephen Wilson. They charted three songs on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts, including "Everybody Be Somebody," which was based on a sample from "Bostich" by Swiss synth-pop band Yello and spent three weeks at #1 in 1995. Their first two hits were released on Masters At Work's MAW label.
The featured vocalist on all their chart entries is Joanne "Yavahn" Thomas. Their tracks are officially credited to Ruffneck featuring Yavahn. Yavahn was one of the original members of the classic house music trio Jomanda (group). Tragically, Yavahn died of colon cancer in October 2003.
