He is famous and was very well written up in all the running magazines in the late 1970s. If you were on the Oregon team, you were famous. Funny things is that Oregon's program since Prefontaine has giuven theiur atheltes disproportionate attention relative to performance. But still, track is more well known than say gymnastics. No reason to denigrate gymnasistic as difficult or worthy though Chivista 01:56, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
