Talk:Rudd Concession
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I think the article is very informative although perhaps somewhat negative in tone. However, I am not happy with the wording of the last paragraph and I have made one minor change (about the gold deposits being mostly gone ). They were certainly not (average annual gold output of the territory was around 25 tonnes through most of the 20th century). However, although the gist of the final statement is vaguely true, it is quite false to say that the wealth of the country was only in the land - the early development of the country was paid for by mining receipts, in particular Southern Rhodesia like South Africa was one of the first parts of the British Empire to recover fully from the Depression (around 1933/34) due to rise in the price of gold. Could the author rectify this as I would rather not interfere if I can avoid it?--AssegaiAli 14:16, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
No discussion since my last comment so I have gone ahead with changes removing the POV in several parts of the article and adding some sources and details--AssegaiAli 13:14, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
