Rudy Pérez is an American songwriter and producer. During the last 25 years, he has composed over 600 songs and written and produced hits for international artists such as Julio Iglesias, Christina Aguilera, Michael Bolton, Luis Miguel, Jose Feliciano, Raul di Blasio, Marc Anthony and Christian artist Jaci Velasquez among others. He is the first Latin record producer to win the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks Producer of the Year for four consecutive years in a row.

Pérez's credits also include many Top 10 spots on the Billboard charts for the last 20 years. His production of Pilar Montenegro broke Billboard’s Hot Latin Track’s record by being No. 1 for 13 consecutive weeks. He then held Billboard’s No. 1 position again for nine weeks with Jennifer Peña’s “El Dolor De Tu Presencia,” making his productions stay an unprecedented 22 consecutive weeks at No. 1. He has the distinction of holding the No. 1 spot for 11 consecutive weeks with three songs by three different artists. In addition, Rudy has received numerous gold and platinum records, and his works have been nominated for 17 Grammy Awards, with five wins.

After the success of his crossover production with Jaci Velasquez’ debut Spanish album, Llegar A Ti, that won the prestigious Dove Award, Rudy was contacted by Ron Fair of RCA to produce Christina Aguilera’s first Spanish album, Mi Reflejo. This album sold over 1 million copies in the U.S. and over 2.5 million abroad, making it one of the most successful Latin albums ever. It also won the 2001 Latin Grammy for Best Female Pop Album, which opened the door for him to work with other English-speaking artists to sing in Spanish like Europe’s boy-band sensation, Westlife, and Michael Bolton. Recently, he’s worked on Michael Bolton’s Vintage, Julio Iglesias’ Divorcio, Il Divo, and songs with Jennifer Peña, Los Temerarios, Cristian Castro, Marco Antonio Solis, Michael Angelo and his newest project, Beyoncé.

Pérez has also been active in the film and TV world with his songs featured in motion pictures, TV novelas, sitcoms and commercials. Fifteen years ago, he penned the original Univision Network theme, which still runs today. He wrote and produced the official Olympic Song for Telemundo/NBC’s historic simultaneous Olympic coverage in both English and Spanish with Michael Angelo singing the song.

Pérez attributes his successful career to Jose Feliciano, his mentor for the last two decades. “It took a blind man to see my talent,” Pérez said about Feliciano. In 2003, Pérez became one of the first Hispanic songwriters to launch a scholarship program in conjunction with The ASCAP Foundation. The ASCAP Foundation Rudy Pérez Songwriting Scholarship enables underprivileged aspiring Hispanic songwriters to attend prestigious music schools around the world.

In 2005, Rudy Pérez received Billboard Awards Latin Producer Of The Year and ASCAP Latin Songwriter of the Year Awards honors for an unprecedented four years in a row.
