Rudolph Nelson "Rudy" Niswanger [NIZE-wong-er] (born November 9, 1982) is an American football center for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. He was signed by the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He played college football at Louisiana State.

He is a native of Monroe, Louisiana, where he attended Ouachita Christian School.

Niswanger, who graduated from LSU with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, was accepted to the LSU Medical School in Shreveport, Louisiana.
As a senior at LSU, he was team captain and won several off-field awards for his academics and work with the community (Baton Rouge, near New Orleans, was impacted by Hurricane Katrina prior to the 2005 season). He won the 2005 Draddy Trophy as the best student-athlete, and the inaugural Wuerffel Trophy, which goes to the best humanitarian in college football.

Niswanger said he would attempt to play in the NFL before turning his attention to medical school. In 2006, Rudy signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs and played in several games at guard, tight end, and on special teams.

Rudy is married to Patricia Hodge of Monroe, Louisiana and they make their home in Kansas City. He has a sister, Jodee, and a brother, Fritz, both LSU graduates. Rudy's parents both attended LSU, as well.
