Ruddy Joraider Lugo (born on May 22, 1980 in Barahona, Dominican Republic) is a Major League Baseball relief pitcher in the New York Mets organization. He bats and throws right-handed.
Lugo is the younger brother of shortstop Julio Lugo. Lugo was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 3rd round of the 1999 amateur baseball draft. He was signed by the Devil Rays during spring training of 2005. He then started the season with the Class A Visalia Oaks and finished it with the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits. In 2006, he was finally called up to the Devil Rays and made his debut on April 3 against the Baltimore Orioles.
He was claimed off waivers by the Oakland Athletics on June 14, 2007.
He was claimed off waivers by the New York Mets on January 30, 2008.
Attended Xaverian High School in Brooklyn N.Y. Other pro athletes to come out of Xaverian include Chris Mullin and Rich Aurilia
Ruddy Lugo is quoted as stating, "I may not be a regular starter, but at least I commit less errors than Julio - HA!"
