[edit] What Type of owl is Ruby?

I personally believe that Ruby was supposed to be a Northern Pgmy owl. All information that says otherwise, I believe was a mistake on either the author's or the publisher's part.

       Information supporting my theory:
           1. Ruby, as everyone knows, is a red-like color. Short-Eared owls are not even remotely red, therfore would not be named after a shade of it. Northern Pygmy owls are very commonly red.
           2. If you look at Ruby's picture in the back of Book 5:The Shatering, it is that of a Northern Pgmy Owl.
           3. Ruby is described as a "shooting fire-ball" when colliering. As I stated in #1, Northern Pygmy Owls, not Short-eared owls, are commonly red and could be described as a fire-ball.
           4. In the River of Wind,Soren sees a streak of red and thinks "Ruby? Ruby and Twilight?"

She's a short-eared owl. At the back of the cover of The Shattering, that was a mistake. Primrose is a pygmy owl, Ruby is a short-eared owl. There are numerous references to Primrose being the pygmy and Ruby the short-eared, far more than vice versa. Dora Nichov 13:40, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
