Rubik, Albania

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rubik is a mining town in northwest Albania, about 10 km east of Lezhë.

Copper ore was processed at a plant in the town (across the river from most of the habitation) for sixty years, until its closure in 1998.

Rubik has a 900 year old church and also a project run by the Caritas charity. It is a beautiful mountainous area. Not a very big town, but it is a town where everyone knows everyone. In 2006 it began new renovations run by Qemal Destani. This new project's purpose is to make the town better in order to attract new tourists.
