Ruben Villareal (born January 5, 1970) is a former professional wrestler who has become an MMA fighter. He has kept his pro-wrestling persona while competing in MMA, including wearing makeup on his face while fighting. He is known for his willingness to fight at short notice. His notable opponents include former UFC champions Dan Severn, Ricco Rodriguez, Bas Rutten and Don Frye.
At WFA-King of the Streets, Villareal stepped in on short notice to fill in for Kimo Leopoldo, who tested positive for steroids. Villareal fought Bas Rutten in Rutten's first match in 7 years, ultimately losing by TKO (Technical Knock Out) via leg kicks.
Villareal agreed to replace Choi Mu Bae and fight Mighty Mo at K-1 Dynamite! USA on June 2, 2007[1], going on to lose by knock out.
The California State Athletic commission suspended and fined Villareal for tested positive for 4-Hydroxytestosterone, following his TKO loss to Jimmy Ambriz in the WCFO event on November 7, 2007 in Hollywood, California.[2]
