Computer animation is the art of applying of computer graphics to the creation of animation. This may refer to both 2D and 3D computer graphics in a wide variety of applications. Major types of animation applications are: real-time-rendered applications such as most modern computer interfaces, computer games and computer simulation, pre-rendered applications such as film, and combination of both methods for applications such as for use on the web. Computer animation is also commonly referred to as CGI (Computer-generated imagery or computer-generated imaging), especially when used in films.
