[edit] Replacement Image
As nice as the image of the pig is, I'd like to replace it with [[1]], is that okay? Oliyoung 10:57, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
- I support the new image! The pig is, well, at least graciously photographed; they tend to have, um, large appendages...--Cyberjunkie | Talk 11:10, 7 September 2005 (UTC)

- I have no right to expect both my photos stay. I have added yours. I intended to crop the pig tighter (remove most of the handler and the steward along the right side), and the style guide says I should have put the pig on the left facing into the page. The sideshow alley picture is definitely valuable to the world audience who don't know what a "show" is, but I think a livestock picture should be there too. Unfortunately I don't think I have any decent pictures of the Grand Parade. The photos should describe what a Royal Show is to people who have no idea, and what distinguishes the Adelaide one from the other capital city Royals. I haven't been to any other Royal Show recently enough to be useful. --Scott Davis Talk 13:20, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
- Nice edit Scott, this is why i didn't merely add my photo, the new layout works really well, all three photos are representive of the show Oliyoung 01:26, 9 September 2005 (UTC)

- I've no problem with all three staying. The pig photo works better small: it was mightily imposing beforehand. A photo of the entrance, with the Ferris wheel rising behind it, would be great if anyone can manage it. --Cyberjunkie | Talk 14:31, 7 September 2005 (UTC)

- Sorry - I had a few minutes, so skimmed through the photos I had taken, and picked the ones I thought best represented the show and added them. With luck I'll have a better woodchopping one too, but I'm not sure. I don't have any of the northern part of the grounds, and won't be going back to take one - over to you Oli or CJ. I tried for a daylight Grand Parade photo yesterday, but most beef cattle had gone home, and the dairy cattle were busy with interbreed judging so weren't in the parade. :-( I've only just realised I didn't take any dairy cattle photos either. :-( --Scott Davis Talk 00:14, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
- Wow, a year ago. Well the pig is perfect, a big hog perfectly shows what the show is largely aboutJayKeaton 07:19, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 'Royal Show' vs 'Show'
Is the show still called the Royal Show in every day ussage? It was when I was growing up. Different searches on google seem to indicate so. An example of this is the State Govt transport link [2]. Should reference to this be made? Ozdaren 02:01, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure it matters a great deal either way. If you feel the article would benefit, then go ahead :-) Muzzamo 04:04, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Images
Having all the images stacked up like that makes the section [EDIT] buttons impossible to find as all the buttons bunch up at the bottom JayKeaton 14:39, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
- And on the subject of images, why were they all taken at dusk with the walls casting shadows over everything? JayKeaton 14:41, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
