- I've tidied this article a bit and removed some of the prose. I have also removed extraneous information such as the names of his family. Due to the nature of this article, it is dangerous to publicise the names of innocent people. The JPS 15:46, 26 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Merge
Whiting is only notable for the murder of Sarah Payne and Payne is only notable for being murdered by Whititng. So the pages should be merged.--Lucy-marie 22:03, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Err how? You'd have to create a Sarah Payne murder page and I for one oppose this, SqueakBox 16:52, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Do not agree with merging. Merging Roy Whiting with Sarah Payne would confuse as specific infomation is being generated regarding Whiting, and the effect of his case. Merging Opposed Sparkyboi 01:10, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Please contribute to merge on sarah payne talk page as the talk is more mature and advanced.--Lucy-marie 18:32, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Notable?
I do not think that Roy Whiting being attacked on a certain day, even if it was the same day another child murder took place is in as of itself noteable. It was an coincidental event and it may also be Unencycolpedic to note.
I will therefore remove the specific link between Ian Huntley and his Murders and the attack on Roy Whiting whilst in prison. These events were not intristically related (I.E. One event did not cause the other event to occur).
In deference to the original author I will replace the text with "It was coincidental that the attack on Roy Whitling in Prison took place on the same day as another notorious child murder was taking place; Namely the murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman by Ian Huntley" Further edits including a total removal of the link will be made if other people agree (or disagree as the case maybe!) Its unsourced and so hasd been removed. Coincidences like this must be sourced or it becomes the original research of wikipedia editors, SqueakBox 16:53, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
More Work
I have made a few alterations, adding some more references and dates and some more specific information. feedback would be appreciated as I am new to this and am bound to screw up somewhere!! Sparkyboi 01:07, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
