Roy Stephenson was an Australian reformist prison superintendent.
Born in 1911 on Thursday Island in Queensland he was the son of a Sergeant in the Thursday Island Police Force. He commenced work in the Queensland Prison Department in 1936. He was appointed to a string of superintendent positions in various prisons before taking over HM Prison Brisbane in 1971. He wrote about his memoirs in Nor Iron Bars a Cage.
