Roy Kabina Essandoh (born 17 February 1976 in Belfast, Northern Ireland) is a former Northern Ireland national team reserve footballer currently playing for Bishop's Stortford in the Conference South.
[edit] Career
Essandoh began his career at Motherwell when he was 18 years of age. Following a short spell at East Fife, he moved to Finland to play for VPS Vaasa until the turn of the new millennium when he returned to the United Kingdom.
Upon his return followed the highlight of his career when, somewhat extraordinarily, Essandoh responded to an appeal on Teletext by Wycombe Wanderers for a striker and later went on to secure an FA Cup semi-final appearance at the expense of Leicester City by scoring a last-minute goal after coming on as a late substitute.
However, he was released at the end of his first season in English football, and after short stays at Barnet, Cambridge City, Grays Athletic, Bishop's Stortford, Billericay Town, Gravesend & Northfleet and Kettering Town, Essandoh returned to Bishop's Stortford in 2006 where he now plays his football. It is believed that he will pursue a coaching role within in the game should he decide to stay in the game when he retires.
On the 28 January 2008, Roy broke his leg in a horror training ground incident and is considering retirement from the game.
