Roy Courtnall Summerfield is a guitar maker, writer and lecturer in musical instrument technology. His two comprehensive books: Making Master Guitars and The Art of Violin Making (with a Foreword by Yehudi Menuhin) are complete guides to the history and practical craft methods of constructing guitars and violins. He set up the course in Classical Guitar Making at Newark College, United Kingdom, in 1993 and this course now trains up to 15 new guitar makers every year.
