Rowlett High School is a public secondary school located in Rowlett, Texas (USA). Rowlett High School enrolls students in grades 9-12 and is a part of the Garland Independent School District. The school opened in the fall of 1996 with Dr. Marlene Hammerle as principal.[6] It is the second newest high school in the district.

Rowlett High School is one of two schools in Garland Independent School District that operates under a trimester system.[7] Students attend three twelve-week terms per school year, earning up to 7 1/2 credits per year.[6]
The school's course offerings include regular, college preparatory, and career and technology courses. Advanced Placement courses offered at the school includes Computer Science, English (language and literature), French, German, Spanish, Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, US History, World History, European History, US Government, Economics, Art History and Psychology.[6]

The attendance rate for students at the school is 96%, compared with a state average of 96%. 22% of the students at Rowlett are economically disadvantaged, 8% enroll in special education, 7% enroll in gifted and talent programs, 35% are enrolled in career and technology programs, and 3% are considered "limited English proficient."[3]
The ethnic makeup of the school is 55% White, non-Hispanic, 22% Hispanic, 19% African American, 4% Asian/Pacific Islander, and less than 1% Native American.[3]
The average class sizes at Rowlett are 25 students for English, 25 for foreign language, 24 for math, 23 for science, and 27 for social studies.[3]
Teachers at the school carry, on average, 11 years of teaching experience and 11% of the teachers on staff are first-year teachers.[3]

Garland ISD is a Free Choice school district, which allows the parent to choose which school his or her children want to attend within the district.[8]

Rowlett High School's basketball and football teams compete with other Garland ISD high school in UIL Conference 5A Region 2 District 10[9]. The boys' track and field team placed first at the UIL 5A State Track & Field Championship Meet on May 10, 2008[10][11].
