Rough Cuts is a trademarked service from Safari Books Online. It allows users to subscribe to evolving manuscripts of books in progress, before they are published.
The Rough Cuts service is based the model put forth by Tim O'Reilly in "The Long Snout" that revenues can be made at the earliest stages of the authoring process. This idea based on the ideas put forth in Chris Anderson's The Long Tail business model.
