The Rough Cuts Film Festival was held in October 2002 at Sunshine Beach State High School in Sunshine Beach, Queensland. It began as a simple idea to broadcast student work on a big screen. Students from three schools submitted tapes and eleven films were shown to an audience of about 50.
The following year, the festival moved to Nambour Civic Centre to cater for our rapidly expanding audience. Students from all high schools, state and private, in the region were invited to submit student films in a variety of categories and lengths. In the end. the best 17 were shown to a crowd of nearly 300.
