[edit] Pink Floyd active years
I'm inclined to agree with you and I've been fighting this fight for months, but I think we should leave it as -2006, at least for the time being. The article is currently going through Featured Article review, so I don't want there to be a big edit war about it, and there's a lot more people changing it to 2006 than present after the Gilmour interview.
Sad as it is, though, despite the lack of a managerial statement (and I'm not even sure who manages the band since O'Rourke's death), if Gilmour says they're through, they're pretty much through. He pretty much is the band now - he has the rights to the name along with Mason and Wright, and a Mason/Wright Floyd album is just not a possibility. If they were to cut a new album a few years down the road, the 1965-2006, 2009-present format would be appropriate now. - dharmabum 21:26, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] PFFF
I added some more evidence about the linkspamming to the noticeboard. Thanks for pointing me towards it. - dharmabum 21:52, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
- I noticed that PFFF has now been indefinitely blocked for his link spamming. Nice work on your summary on the noticeboard. - dharmabum 21:44, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Featured!
Whoo-hoo! Thanks for all your help in the last week, I had no idea what I was getting into when I listed that article for FAC. :) - dharmabum 22:50, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] P*U*L*S*E
Yup, that's the one... here's a link to the iMDB entry, which you can throw in the article as well. - dharmabum 20:38, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
- Looks great, I added the film infobox and removed the stub category. One thing I was wondering about, though - I haven't seen P*U*L*S*E in a long time, but my distinct memory from the Delicate Sound of Thunder concert is that almost everybody sung together for the "doctor" part - Gilmour, Carin, Renwick, Pratt, Wright, and the 3 backup singers. Was it just Carin on P*U*L*S*E? - dharmabum 01:47, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- Heh, good point. I always particularly liked Rachel Fury's duetting with Dave in the DSoT version of "Comfortably Numb", in the "When I was a child..." part through the end of the chorus. - dharmabum 20:01, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Gameiro 19:49, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dave Kilminster
Hey, with regard to your last edit at Dave Kilminster, I just believe that his activity dates from 1991, not 1975. In 1975 he began to play guitar, but he actually become a publicly notable musician in 1991, after winning the prize.--Doktor Who 18:20, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Icon and the Black Roses
Sorry if the delete was too quick -- but even if you are going to add more to the article later, you should put something in the original article that indicates that the band satisfies WP:MUSIC ("they had the Top Ten hit "____"), or whatever). There are dozens (probably hundreds) of obscure-band articles created every day, and we would get swamped if we waited several hours on each one to see if notability was going to be asserted later. Thanks, NawlinWiki 21:13, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- You're right, notability is not a speedy-delete criterion -- but *failure to assert notability* is (criterion a7). Again, even the first draft of an article should assert notability -- ideally in the first sentence.
It does not appear to me that one interview on a Portuguese-language music website is enough to establish this band's notability, but if you were to recreate the article with a citation to that interview, I would send it to AFD rather than speedily deleting it.
I've copied the content of the articles to your userspace at User:Rotring/Icon & The Black Roses and User:Rotring/Icon & The Black Roses (album). NawlinWiki 21:32, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Scarf_wall.jpg listed for deletion
If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.
If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. J Di talk 15:25, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[edit] Notification - speedy deletion tag added to Anikin Starkiller
Welcome to Wikipedia! We could really use your help to create new content, but your recent additions (such as "Anikin Starkiller") are considered nonsense. Please refrain from creating nonsense articles. If you want to test things out, edit the sandbox instead. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

- response to post on my talk page: Regarding 'experimenting' statement ... this text above is a boilerplate insertion related to speedy deletion candidates of a certain type, not my ad hoc interpretation of your stage of maturity as an editor. Regarding 'Anikin Starkiller' ... if this is an early name for the character, you could certainly put that information into Anakin Skywalker and re-create the redirect; the problem with the redirect as it previously existed (now deleted, I see) is that it pointed at an article that did not provide context for the redirect - an unfortunately common occurrence and one that leaves the person following (or interpreting) the link scratching their heads (um, one head per person, that is) as to how the redirecting term relates to the target article. [edit] Steven Tyler
Excuse me, but when and where did I ever vandalize anything on the Steven Tyler article? My recent edits include a factoid about the singer appearing in a television commercial, fixing a few years, removing a highly questionable, poorly cited, potentially libelous statement about the singer's personal life, and questioning the OR tag. How does any of that constitute vandalism? I've also been creating articles on Wikipedia for a year now, and the sandbox comment is completely rude and unnecessary. Thank you. Abog 16:53, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- That's OK. Sorry I lashed out initially, just been having some Wiki stress lately. --Abog 18:09, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Pink_Floyd_Money_DSOT.ogg
Thanks for uploading Image:Pink_Floyd_Money_DSOT.ogg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 21:35, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:MilleniumStamp.png
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:MilleniumStamp.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —♦♦ SʘʘTHING(Я) 09:22, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Varzim SC.jpg. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

[edit] Image:Feirense.gif
I have tagged Image:Feirense.gif as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. OsamaK (talk) 19:48, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Better source request for Image:Varzim_SC.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Varzim_SC.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. OsamaK (talk) 19:49, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Pink Floyd Money DSOT.ogg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Pink Floyd Money DSOT.ogg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. NotifyBot (talk) 13:44, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
