[edit] Pronunciation

I've often wondered how Rothesay is pronounced, as it's a name I known only from reading, and never heard a Scot say it.

  • Is the o [ɒ] or [əʊ]?
  • Is the th [θ] or [ð]?
  • Is the e [ə] or silent?
  • Is the s [s] or [z]?

I have no idea of phonetic symbols, but i think most people say ROTH-e-sey, with the e more of a space than an actual e, and a soft s, not z. Some locals say "Rossey".
