Talk:Rota (music)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
why is there no option to edit? the first sentence has a grammatical mistake...should be "song sung in..." and not simply "sung in..."
edit: nevermind.
- Actually "round" is a noun. I edited the line to clarify it. Antandrus (talk) 04:01, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Rota vs. round
What's the difference between a rota and a round? -Branddobbe 06:52, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
- They're very close to being the same thing. I'll try to clarify that in the article. The rotas I know (e.g. sumer is icumen in) are less simple than a round in that there is a pair of voices singing, in round, an accompaniment figure (known as the pes) to what the other four voices are doing (known, I think, as the rota). The accompaniment is a lot simpler than the music it accompanies, and sounds a lot like an ostinato. Antandrus (talk) 21:21, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
