Weymouth Beach
Weymouth is a town in Dorset, England, United Kingdom, situated on a sheltered bay at the mouth of the River Wey on the English Channel coast. The town is thirteen kilometres south of Dorchester and eight kilometres north of the Isle of Portland. The population of Weymouth is almost 52,000.

The A354 road bridge connects Weymouth to Portland, which together form the borough of Weymouth and Portland. The history of the borough stretches back to the 12th century; including involvement in the Black Death, the settlement of the Americas, the Georgian era, and World War II.

Although fishing and trading are less significant employment sectors in the area since their peak in earlier centuries, tourism has had a strong presence in the town since the 18th century. Weymouth continues to be a popular tourist resort, and the town's economy depends on its harbour and the beaches of Weymouth Bay. Weymouth is a gateway town situated half-way along the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site on the Dorset and east Devon coast, important for its geology and landforms. Weymouth harbour is home to cross-channel ferries, pleasure boats and private yachts, and nearby Portland Harbour is home to the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, where the sailing events of the 2012 Olympic Games will be held. Welcome!

I am Rossenglish, and I edit Wikipedia from exactly 50.5976°N, 2.4606°W in Weymouth, in the county of Dorset, which is in the constituent country of England, part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and also of the European Union.

I use Wikipedia to enhance my knowledge of all things related to physics, geography, mathematics and the other sciences. In addition, I am interested in the European Union and United Kingdom politics, and in the history and geography of the UK, and particularly Dorset. I mostly contribute to articles on Dorset and some parts of the UK, and general corrections I may spot during my browsing, particularly articles in WikiProject politics of the United Kingdom, WikiProject European Union and WikiProject Europe. Some of my edits make me a WikiFairy; others a WikiGnome.

Contributions

Weymouth

This was my first major work on Wikipedia, and was a vast learning curve for me, especially with lots of help from Tutmosis. My talk page shows my contributions to this article to get it to FA. I find that none of my work is ever finished.

Isle of Portland

The second article that I contributed a lot to, to help it become FA. I again learned a lot about what is expected of an FA. Again, it will always be a work in progress; other users add things that slip one's mind, and I will no doubt discover (frankly obvious: how could I have missed them!) shortcomings in the article's breadth.

Userboxes etc

I have hidden all my userboxes and views away at the bottom of my page, as they aren't that important and shouldn't prejudice Wikipedia life. But they're there for interest's sake.
