Rossend Castle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rossend Castle is a historic building in Burntisland, a town in Fife, Scotland.
The castle was built in 1119 and over the years it has played host to among others Mary Queen of Scots and the army of Oliver Cromwell, who captured it in 1651. The castle was nearly demolished at the wishes of the council who owned it and sadly let its condition deteriorate, but it was saved after a public inquiry in 1972. It was tastefully restored after being bought in 1975 by the architecture firm who still own it and use it as offices today.
