"Roses Are Red" was the second single released by the Scandinavian dance-pop group Aqua, and their first under the name of Aqua, as their debut single has been released under the name of JOYspeed. The track would also later feature on Aqua's debut album Aquarium.
The single was successful in various European countries, particularly Scandinavia where the single reached number one on the singles chart in Denmark and the top ten in Sweden, Norway and Finland. "Roses Are Red" was never released in the United Kingdom as a single.
The song was inspired by the popular poem Roses are red, which has produced lots of satirical or humorous variations.
The song was also remixed in 2008, along with "Hush" by Yoi, as "Hush The Red Roses".
