Rosemary Sandlin

Rosemary Sandlin (D -Agawam) is a local politician well-known for her 22 years of service as a member of Agawam's School Committee. Ms. Sandlin is a Third Hampden District State Representative for the Massachusetts House.
Ms. Sandlin has served as the School Committee's Chair and Vice Chair, has chaired and otherwise served on many of its subcommittees and has been instrumental in pioneering all-day Kindergarten, improving access and development of technology at all levels of the school system, supporting arts education in schools and promoting school safety. Sandlin is also a member of the Agawam Rotary Club and a supporter of local businesses. She is a veteran of the Agawam Housing Authority and continues to be an outspoken advocate for the elderly and is a strong advocate for children and families in her community.
Ms. Sandlin has extensive experience in dealing with state-wide issues. She has served on the State Democratic Committee, as administrative aide for the Massachusetts Senate Majority Leader, and represented Agawam as the state-wide chair of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC). As a member of MASC, she was a member of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Games Committee, and participated in a study group to enact legislation to alleviate indoor toxic mold in public schools and other public buildings. She has also participated on many national and state panels studying issues of technology and safety in schools. Most recently, she appeared as a clinician at the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy and the Women's Studies Program at the University of Massachusetts. She is also matriculated into the Public Policy and Administration program at the University of Massachusetts, where she expects to attain her Bachelor's degree.
