Rosemary Corbin was the Democratic mayor of Richmond, California from 1985 to 2000, a long career for which she has been honoured [1] She was the first female mayor of this city and is of European ancestry. Corbin is still involved in local politics and today is campaigning in support of Richmond, California Measure T and against Indian casinos.

In 2000 she was succeeded by Irma Anderson, her vice mayor, which she supported.

Corbin studied at San Francisco State University for her BA and got her MA in library from Cal Berkeley.

She serves on the Rosie the Riveter/Homefront World War II National Monument board, a project she spearheaded as mayor. Her other crowning glory was that of the now blossoming Main Street Project which has resulted in remodeling MacDonald Avenue and the creation of the Richmond Transit Village "Metro Walk" and the Richmond Shopping Center along with bring back the MacDonald 80 Shopping Center from the graveyard, which are now coming to fruition.

She is also involved with the Richmond Rotary Club.
